The director even went so far as to use many of the real people that were involved. (Especially the senior air-traffic controllers, and the USAF air-intercept officers.) They gave it an added sense of realism.

There was only one problem. The movie left out the final three minutes of Flight 93. The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) tape ends (at least, the publicly-released version) at 1003. But, the university seismograph in western Pennsylvania shows that the plane impacted the ground at 1006. What happened in those missing three minutes?

Yes, the passengers DID overcome the terrorist plot by storming the cockpit. But, by the time they did, it was too late. The Air Force interceptor had already begun firing the 20mm cannon that destroyed Flight 93.

That’s what REALLY happened.

So much for being “politically unquestionable”.

ebw: Well, I really don’t know if that’s how it really happened, or how factual the film is concerning the final moments, but when I said “politically unquestionable” I meant its portrayal of both passengers and terrorists as people putting everything in the line for what they believed in. I doubt that the ending you suggest would have made the movie any different… but if it is a fact they certainly should have included it out of respect. Doesn’t change my opinion on the movie, though.
